The Key Tax is a first-person puzzle game based on a new study in development by Dr. Mata Haggis. The game takes place in a 60’s-70’s office environment that gets progressively weirder and more surreal.
The core game loop is for the player to fill meters in each room in order to open doors to the next room. The game is best enjoyed for its humor and environmental gags over its puzzle design.
The game was made in 7 weeks by 16 students.
Motivatie
Best Student Game The game is made by students from the NHTV Breda and was a marvelous success in-house and at the Industry Showcase day at July 6th. The Key Tax has been regarded by most teachers as the best game of the Year 2 D block, and won Best Game Design in-house for this study year. The Key Tax won in-house Best Game Design. The game is highly enjoyed by various people for its humor and interesting puzzle dynamics. The game's visual style crafted in 7 weeks is a big achievement by any standards. The environmental assets fit the aesthetic of the game, and are set dressed in a highly enjoyable fashion. The animated mannequins spread around the office environment are the result of an in-depth anatomy and clothing study done by our character artist.
