Customize your King, Build an army of loyal knights specialized with different weapons and armor. Storm out of the procedurally generated dungeons and take back your castle by defeating hostile armies and guardian bosses.
Motivatie
Best Student Game Initially developed during the Ludum Dare game jam by Kuality Games team, Bolt Storm has been in development since September 2016 by a group of talented students from the NHTV Breda. Our project is a great example of what a proper student team can deliver by working together and combining work across all game development disciplines: Programming, Art, Design and Production.
The amount of work and dedication that went into Bolt Storm is evident through the end-result. Although the game is not finished and released yet, we are extremely proud of what we have achieved so far and we see the potential of Bolt Storm succeeding as a commercial project. Throughout the development our focus has been on learning, but at the same time we aimed to make a product that would feel polished and playable. We believe we have achieved that and we aim to continue this way. What's remarkable behind our game is the team itself and how we managed as a student team to keep the development process running and work professionally, in a way that it would equal any other game studio out there. Art in Bolt Storm: Our Art team has done a great job at creating and delivering high-quality content, as well as defining an aesthetically pleasing art style for Bolt Storm. Doing research, taking references and receiving feedback has helped the team achieve a unique look for our project. Tech in Bolt Storm: Technical team has been busy building the core systems of our game from ground-up. A lot of thought and work has gone into building AI and Character systems as well as making everything work together. The team worked on features such as procedural level generation, character customization, camera and complex combat system that supports ranged and melee combat. Design in Bolt Storm: Starting from the concepting stage, design team has done a great deal of work by designing features and core mechanics, working in the engine and cooperating closely with other departments in order to make sure that the Bolt Storm played well and felt good as envisioned. The team has gone through rounds of iterations, playtesting and feedback, as we changed and improved mechanics in the game. Management & Production: Our team has had hierarchy and structure, by having strong leads and a support of a producer in order to manage the team and oversee the development. Through proper planning, task delegation and management the team has achieved deadlines effectively. We learned a great deal by working together as a team and solving problems along the way. Without team-work and dedication, none of it would have been possible. We are not finished with Bolt Storm yet, as we plan to continue work and publish the game as our start-up company Kuality Games. We have long-term goals and aim to grow as a company.
